This year President Joe DePriest once again visited the high school seniors at both Jenkins High School and Letcher County Central High School to share the Chamber's Work Ethic Scholarship Program. He discussed that the mission of the program is to ensure that students are acquiring the needed work ethic in order to obtain and secure successful employment.
Students listened as President DePriest told the senior classes that meeting the criteria of the program which combines hard work, attendance, and extra-curricular activities will distinguish them from the norm when seeking post-secondary education and employment.
Students who complete this program will receive a Certificate that can be used for college and job applications and an opportunity to receive a $1,000 cash scholarship.
The Letcher County Chamber has provided $12,000 in scholarships to our local students over the last six years. We are able to provide this by the annual dues of our members and member sponsorship. Anyone wishing to help sponsor this valuable program may contact email@example.com.
This JHS student is signing his commitment form to participate in the 2014-2015 Work Ethic Program.
